Welcome, my name is Whitney Burns and I’m honored that you are here!

Birth is a beautiful and curious process. My role as a birth doula is to advocate for the mother’s evolving needs; so she can feel equipped to safely enter into her labor & delivery experience, accepting and feeling proud of her journey. I provide emotional and physical support to expectant mothers during their labor and delivery. I’m there protecting her environment, sharing words of encouragement, massage, a cool wash cloth, position changes, etc.

My desire is for expectant mothers to feel rooted in care.

I am a certified birth doula with DONA International. I live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, married to my best friend and together we have four amazing children. We can be found dancing in the kitchen, hunting down the best donut, planting flower seeds in the garden, and serving in our local church. After giving birth to my first daughter, I knew I needed to pursue my calling to become a doula. While three months pregnant with my second daughter, I attended a doula training workshop. The rest has become a growing story of friendship, trust, and connection between the beautiful mothers and their partners that I support!

Testimonials

“Having Whitney as my doula allowed me to feel supported each step of the way. She brought my husband into the birthing process by including him in a supportive pose. I could lean into him in the front as she applied pressure to my low back. I was supported on all sides. Such a positive birth experience. I wish I would have had her for my first delivery as well. Doula’s are totally worth the investment!”

“Whitney was INCREDIBLE. It was my 2nd pregnancy, middle of January and she was also 36 weeks pregnant herself! We met several times before the due date to review my birth plan and practice different pain relieving techniques. We lived quite a while away from each other so we planned to meet at the hospital. There, she was prepared with snacks, coconut water, honey sticks for energy. She gave my husband breaks throughout the labor process and really helped with a smooth labor!”

“I could not recommend Whitney any more HIGHLY. She was my doula for my first pregnancy this last March (2019) and she helped the delivery go as smoothly as possible. Not only is she more than capable to meet your physical needs in labor, but also your need for emotional and mental support. She was also incredibly flexible with several changes in circumstances and made me feel confident at every turn. She is phenomenal!”

“Whitney was truly amazing – a joyful, nurturing , and professional presence who walked with us before, during, and after the birth of our baby girl. She helped give us incredible confidence, guidance, and comfort around the birth that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. As a first time mother who lives abroad from her family, I cannot overstate how meaningful it was to have Whitney there. She held my fears, questions, concerns, and when the time came she held my focus as I pushed. Whitney both helped create a relaxing and loving atmosphere in the hospital for me to give birth (no easy task!) and was an excellent birthing coach who was truly integral to my delivery.

If you are on the fence about having a doula – please hear my mama encouragement to do it! And if you are looking for a doula I cannot recommend Whitney highly enough – she will always be a wonderful part of this important day and we hope to use her for all future children. “
